The Seamus Patrick Murphy Memorial

SeamusSeamus Murphy was born on November 7th, 2006 with severe Congenital Heart Defects. His first open heart surgery was at a week old. His fourth, and last, was on November 23rd, 2007. Seamus passed away on January 20th, 2008 after fighting hard for one year, two months and 13 days.

While Seamus spent five months of his life in the hospital, he found joy in everything he did and inspired everyone he met. His parents have established this fund to improve the lives of children with Congenital Heart Defects and help them find joy while continuing Seamus’ fight.

Seamus loved watching the fish in the aquarium at the hospital when he would take walks with his parents on the cardiac recovery floor. Our first goal is to fund a similar aquarium in the new children’s hospital that is being built to replace Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. After that, we plan to use the money we raise to fund CHD research and inpatient programs that bring kids like Seamus fun while they recover.
